- On 25 September 2026 the GREEN×EXPO Association posted a notice on its official website giving ticket sales figures as of 18 September 2026.
- Total sold: 2,609,562 tickets.
- By type: early-bird one-day tickets 2,582,050; season passes 18,427; special discount tickets 8,501; summer passes 584.
- Evening tickets and regular-price one-day tickets do not appear in the table. Regular one-day tickets go on sale from 19 March 2027.
- The notice does not say how many tickets went to individuals versus companies and organisations buying in bulk, how sales split between the official ticket site, travel agencies and other outlets, or when the next figures will be published.
- It links to the ticket information page and the official ticket site.
Our take
Start with the shape of the numbers. Of 2.6 million tickets, 2.58 million are early-bird one-day tickets, 99% of the total. Season passes stand at 18,427 and summer passes at 584. As we noted in our guide to the Yokohama Expo, the Association expects more than 10 million paid visitors. Count each one-day ticket as one visit and a quarter of that is already in hand six months before opening. What the table does not show is whether those 2.58 million were bought by individuals or include bulk purchases by sponsors and local governments, and without that it is hard to guess how crowded the opening weeks will be.
The date matters too. 18 September was the day convenience-store sales and timed-entry booking began, so this figure is essentially six months of sales through the official ticket site and travel agencies, with almost nothing from convenience stores. If the Association publishes again, the difference will show what the store counters and the booking system added.
Season passes at 18,427 are one for every 140 one-day tickets: people who live near the venue, or who plan to watch the gardens change over the season. The timber RING PASS is a lottery with applications from 18 to 30 September, so it should not be in this table. Summer passes, at 584, are valid only in July and August 2027, and we suspect few people are buying that far ahead.
Tips for visitors
- Early-bird one-day tickets cost 4,900 yen for adults if bought by 18 March 2027; from opening day the price is 5,500 yen. The full price table is in ticket types and how to buy.
- A ticket alone does not fix your entry date. If you know when you are going, make the timed-entry booking the same day you buy. Convenience-store tickets come with the booking already attached.
- If you live along the line and expect to go twice a month or more, run the numbers for the season pass (28,000 yen for adults) in how to think about the season pass.
Our take
On 18 September, the day convenience-store sales and timed-entry booking began, 99% of the 2.6 million tickets were early-bird one-day tickets: a quarter of the 10 million paid visitors the Association expects, six months before opening. The split between individuals and corporate bulk buyers is not disclosed.
