A season pass costs 28,000 yen for adults. Divide that by an early-bird one-day ticket (4,900 yen) and you get about 5.7 visits; by the regular price (5,500 yen), about 5.1. We think deciding on that “five visits” figure alone would be a waste.
What the organiser has already fixed

There is also a limited edition of the season pass. The RING PASS, made from timber of the Expo 2025 Grand Ring, comes in a run of 2,027 at 50,000 yen including the pass and postage; the 22,000 yen difference is the wooden ticket, and existing pass holders can enter for that difference. Lottery entries ran from noon on 18 September to 30 September 2026 and have closed. Results were to be sent by email in early October, and the passes are to be dispatched during February 2027 (our report on RING PASS).
Season and summer passes are personal. After purchase you register a face photo and your name, only you can use the pass, it cannot be transferred or lent, and the photo is checked at the venue (organiser FAQ). A season pass can hold four entry reservations at a time, and the day after a visit you can add the next one. The three-change limit on one-day tickets does not apply to season and summer passes. What the payback calculation misses
Admission uses timed-entry reservations for the whole run. A season pass can hold four entry reservations at a time, with no limit on how often you change them (one-day tickets and the like are limited to three changes). With a season pass, checking for an open slot and going on a sunny weekday afternoon becomes realistic. Someone who buys five one-day tickets and someone who visits fifteen times on a pass differ by ten days on the grounds.

This line sits in the section on exhibit reservations (same-day bookings for some exhibits), not on timed entry. Once you have an entry reservation and are inside, the outdoor gardens and beds can be walked without an exhibit reservation. The condition is the same on a one-day ticket; what differs is how many times you walk them. A horticultural expo is an exhibition whose plantings change over 192 days, and we expect what you see to shift with the seasons: bulbs, roses, summer annuals, autumn grasses. A ticket that lets you walk the same paths again and again suits this expo.
An easy way to decide
If you live in Yokohama or along the Sotetsu, Den-en-toshi or Yokohama lines and can visit twice a month or more, take the season pass. If your visits will cluster in the summer holidays, the summer pass fits better. For one or two visits from far away, get the early-bird one-day ticket. For several visits from far away, the pattern is a hotel near Yokohama Station and the Sotetsu line out to Mitsukyo or Seya. For a visit after work there is the evening ticket (3,500 yen, entry from 17:00), and the teen and child season passes are also worth four to five one-day tickets, so the same reasoning applies. The crowd calendar and planting schedule, which would also help you decide, have not been published yet.
Correction (19 October 2026): In “What the payback calculation misses” we wrote that entry slots could be changed up to three times. That limit applies to tickets other than the season and summer passes; season and summer pass reservations can be changed any number of times.
