First event list: Aomori Nebuta floats on show all season, a Kanagawa musical, National Days set for 59 participants

• Six months before opening, the GREEN×EXPO Association published a first list of the main events planned inside the venue during the 192 days. The Association says the list reflects the situation on the day of release, may change, and will be extended on the official website as events are fixed.
• All season, organiser-run: the festival almanac project: farming rituals and traditional performing arts staged in the venue’s farm scenery and Japanese-nature settings. An Aomori Nebuta float will be on permanent display, and festival and performing-arts groups from around the country will take part. Nebuta parade dates are still being arranged.
• Kanagawa Prefecture’s original musical “Vibrant INOCHI”: performed on an irregular schedule in the main event hall (provisional name), on the prefecture’s slogan Vibrant INOCHI, treating environmental issues with humour. Dates to be announced.
• Sports events (organiser-run): sports on the lawn, stages and workshops with top athletes and sports bodies. Dates to be announced.
• National Days and Special Days: every official participant (countries, regions and international organisations) will hold one. Dates are fixed for 59 participants, counting only those that have agreed to publication.
• Government ministry events: 11 ministries and agencies confirmed. Venues include the Macnica Greentech Messe (about 600 square metres) and an event space of about 120 square metres inside the Japan Government Garden, covering green technology and policy from the angles of flowers, food and farming, environment, culture and disaster recovery.
• Local government events: 11 municipalities confirmed, including a host-region week by Kanagawa Prefecture and the City of Yokohama and the Izumisano danjiri festival from Osaka Prefecture.
• Events by companies and groups: 25 groups confirmed. The example given is Toei Animation, with film screenings and shows in the event hall (provisional name).
• Event spaces: a site map marks five: the main event hall (about 500 seats), the large event square (about 800 square metres), the event hall (about 300 seats), the Macnica Greentech Messe (about 600 square metres) and the Japan Government Garden space (about 120 square metres).
• Month-by-month highlights (given as reference): March and April, a Toei Animation and City of Yokohama event and a virtual-city green technology show (until 12 June); May, FoodTech Garden 2027; June, the Izumisano danjiri festival and the 22nd national food-education convention; July, a green technology trade fair (provisional); August, a regional promotion event and Honeybee Week; September, Hydrogen Week (provisional) and virtual forest bathing. National Days run every month in the main event hall.
• Dates by event (attachments 1 and 2): events whose organisers agreed to publication are listed with dates and venues. Examples: the Toei Animation and City of Yokohama event, 23 to 25 March; FoodTech Garden 2027, 21 to 25 May; the Izumisano danjiri festival, 27 June; Honeybee Week, 14 to 16 August; Hydrogen Week (provisional), 15 to 20 September. Our take

The main text gives only month-by-month highlights, but the attachments list dates and venues event by event, including country-by-country dates for 59 National Days. You can now pick a day as well as a month. (Corrected 16 September 2026)

In the monthly highlights, the months have different colours: animation in spring, a festival and food in early summer, honeybees in August, hydrogen and forest bathing in September. Festival fans should look at June; families at spring or the food events in May. The one thing that does not depend on the date is the Nebuta float, on show all season.

The size of the event spaces matters too. The main hall has about 500 seats and the event hall about 300. National Day ceremonies and the musical will take place at that scale, so we expect standing room on the day to be limited. Tickets and reservations are not mentioned; we will add them when announced.

For visitors from abroad, the country-by-country National Day dates are already out, so you can pair a date with our participating countries guides and plan around your own country’s day. Tips for visitors

• Choose a month first: June for the Izumisano danjiri festival, May and June for the food events, August for Honeybee Week.
