- On 20 October 2026, Yokohama City signs a sponsorship contract with Obayashi Corporation for the advanced-technology exhibits in its “Tsunagu Yokohama Pavilion.”
- Obayashi will lend exhibits on technologies and concepts for a future in which a connection with space is part of everyday life. Visitors will learn about future space transport and development expanding from Earth to the Moon and Mars.
- The pavilion is the city’s exhibit inside the Urban GX Village and has two zones, a Lifestyle Zone and a Future Zone. The city has two exhibits at the venue in total.
- Obayashi also has its own exhibit, “Morisora Mirai,” in the same Urban GX Village.
- The release does not name the exhibits, say which zone they go in, or give a running total of sponsors.
- Note: Tsunagu Yokohama Pavilion and Morisora Mirai are trip-jp’s renderings of the Japanese names. The city has not published official English names.
Our take
Sponsorships for the city pavilion had paused for three weeks after Kajima on 28 September. Counting the city’s own press list, this is the 26th announcement since Tokyo Gas on 21 July. Our 28 September report counted 18 companies and groups, but that covered announcements from 13 August onward. Tokyo Gas, Tokyu Land, Murata and IHI came earlier, in July and early August.
It is also the first sponsorship announced under the pavilion’s new name. Earlier releases called it the “information hub using building space.” The city gave it the name Tsunagu Yokohama Pavilion on 29 September, and this release uses that name.
Space is the theme for the second time, after IHI’s Epsilon rocket. The release says visitors will see concepts for transport to the Moon and Mars, but not whether that means models or films, or which zone they go in. Since Obayashi also runs its own Morisora Mirai pavilion in the same village, visitors will meet the company’s exhibits in two places.
Tips for visitors
- The location of the city pavilion, its two zones and the dates of the city’s own events are in our report on the 29 September announcements.
- The sponsors announced up to 28 September are listed in that report. The full list including Obayashi is on the city’s press release page.
- For the whole venue, see the pavilion overview. The city pavilion and Kanagawa Prefecture’s pavilion are separate buildings.
Our take
This is the first sponsorship announced for the city pavilion since Kajima on 28 September, and the 26th since Tokyo Gas on 21 July by the city's own press list. It is the second space-themed one after IHI's Epsilon rocket. Whether the exhibit is a model or a film is not stated.
