- Sustainable Pavilion 2025 Inc. announced on 9 October 2026 that null²ⁿ, the permanent theatre produced by Yoichi Ochiai, opens on Wednesday 14 October, and revealed what is inside. It is on the 5th floor of Landmark Plaza at Yokohama Landmark Tower.
- The visit runs through a gate and five areas and takes about 60 minutes. The English names below are the ones given in the release.
- Gate: “mirror portal of null²”
- First Room, “Goodbye, Homo sapiens”: a bright room with a ritual of letting go of signs
- Second Room, “Dream of the null eye realm”: complete darkness, where scenes of a life pass by as sound alone
- Third Room, “Longing for Mass”: about 170 human inventions on display
- Fourth Room, “Dream of the Latent Space”: a room where video surges around you
- Bridge, “The Far Shore of Signs”: the mirror turns transparent and you see the room you were just in; there is a photo moment
- Details of each area will be released after opening. The release does not say which area is the “LED theatre” named in its subtitle.
- Entry is by advance booking for a set time. Hours are 9:30 to 21:00 (planned), with entry slots from 9:30 to 19:40.
- Adults (13 and over) pay ¥3,900 on weekdays and ¥4,500 on weekends and holidays; children (4 to 12) pay ¥3,000 and ¥4,000. One child aged 3 or under enters free with each adult.
- A T-shirt by Yohji Yamamoto’s Ground Y label and Ochiai, worn by staff, goes on sale on 14 October for ¥16,500.
- An opening ceremony was held on 9 October on the 1st floor of Landmark Plaza. Yokohama’s Deputy Mayor Toshihide Hirahara, Jun Takashina of the Expo 2025 association and Masato Kawamura, Secretary General of the GREEN×EXPO association, gave speeches, and nine people cut the tape. Myaku-Myaku and Tunku Tunku also came.
Our take
Until now the public information stopped at the place, the price and “about 60 minutes”. What happens in those 60 minutes was not disclosed. From the names, the room where video surrounds you is the fourth. Before it come a bright room with a ritual, a dark room with sound only, and a room where you walk past inventions. Anyone who read “LED theatre” in the subtitle and pictured sitting through 60 minutes of video should know before booking that this is a walk through several rooms, we think.
Families should look at the Second Room first. Tickets are charged from age 4 and children of 3 and under enter free, but the second room is completely dark. The release does not say whether a child who dislikes the dark can leave partway, or skip that room.
At the ceremony, officials of the Expo 2025 association and the GREEN×EXPO association spoke one after the other. The site map that the GREEN×EXPO association updated on the same day, 9 October, shows the name “null⁴” in the South Area, on the Satoyama Village side. Of the three, null² in Osaka, null²ⁿ in central Yokohama and null⁴ at the Expo site, the second opens on 14 October, and the association’s map shows roughly where the third will stand.
Tips for visitors

- How null² in Osaka leads to null⁴ at the Expo is covered in our article on null² to null⁴.
Our take
What fills the roughly 60-minute visit is out for the first time. After the gate come five areas: the second is a completely dark room with sound only, the third shows about 170 human inventions, and the last, a bridge, has a photo moment. The release does not say which area is the LED theatre. It opened as planned on 14 October 2026.
