Moomin and Tunku Tunku collaboration goods from January 2027, starting with a mug, a plate and an eco bag

• Official licensed merchandise pairing Moomin with the mascot Tunku Tunku will go on sale.
• The organiser says the collaboration came about because the Moomins’ respect for nature fits the Expo’s theme.
• Announced items and prices (tax included, designs may change): mug ¥2,970 and plate ¥2,860 around January 2027; printed handkerchief ¥2,200, wrap-around cooling handkerchief ¥1,980 and eco bag ¥4,400 around late February to early March 2027.

Our take

Moomin makes four. The organiser’s collaboration partners so far are Myaku-Myaku (Expo 2025), Garden Bear (Yokohama City), Mizuno, and now Moomin, each bringing a different audience that meets the Expo through the goods. For Moomin, the organiser says the characters’ respect for nature fits the Expo theme.

Prices run from 1,980 to 4,400 yen. A mug and a plate get used every day, so these are goods to live with rather than keepsakes for a shelf. The release warns that designs may change; the artwork shown is not final.

January to early March is the release window, timed for demand ahead of opening day. Sales outlets are not announced. The official pop-up store in Yamashita Park stays open until 31 May 2027 and is the obvious candidate in Yokohama, but that is a guess until the organiser says so.

Tips for visitors

• To have one before opening day, the mug and plate around January come first. Handkerchiefs and the eco bag follow around late February to early March.
• Outlets and the release order will be posted on the official site and social accounts. In Yokohama, the likely candidate is the Yamashita Park pop-up store.
