As of 17 September 2026, these are the six Myaku-Myaku x Tunku Tunku announcements we have confirmed.
2. 2025: first appearances at the Expo 2025 venue and the “Yokohama Harbour Double Marron”
The two characters first appeared together during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. According to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, an exhibition titled “2027 International Horticultural Expo Exhibition: Flower Culture Connecting to the Future” ran from 23 to 27 September 2025 in Gallery EAST (East Gate Zone E13) at the Expo venue, free of charge and with no reservation needed. Collaboration goods, ball-chain mascots and stickers featuring Tunku Tunku and Myaku-Myaku, appeared at this exhibition. Sales ran for 23 September only, while a commemorative stamp was set up from 23 to 27 September. The announcement does not state a price.
The GREEN×EXPO Association followed on 22 October 2025 with a confection, the “Myaku-Myaku x Tunku Tunku Yokohama Harbour Double Marron.” It is a sponge-cake sweet wrapped around a house-made chestnut filling, five pieces for ¥1,188 including tax. It went on sale from 4 November 2025 at the EXPO 2027 official store and at Ariake’s own shops and online store. The same announcement restocked a clear file (¥520), a keyring (¥770) and a sticker (¥660).
In its March 2026 announcement, the Association looked back on the goods that first appeared in September 2025, saying stores “sold out one after another right after launch.”
3. March 2026: six new items and four restocks after selling out
On 10 March 2026, the Association announced six new items and four restocks. The new items were a knapsack (¥1,980), a zip pouch and a drawstring bag (¥880 each), a shoulder pouch (¥1,210), a mini banner (¥1,100) and a commemorative medal (¥1,800). The restocks were a clear file (¥520), an acrylic keyring (¥770), a sticker and a tin magnet (¥660 each). Sales began in stages from 18 March, with Maruzen Marunouchi and the official online store starting on 20 March.
4. August and September 2026: a Kanagawa event, the Mizuno triple collaboration and the six-months-to-go press conference
On 17 August 2026, Kanagawa Prefecture announced the “GREEN×EXPO 2027 Six-Months-to-Go Event in Kanagawa,” held on 23 September 2026 (a Wednesday holiday) at Dinacity West in Odawara. According to the prefecture, Tunku Tunku and Myaku-Myaku appear together, alongside an opening talk with actor Eiichiro Funakoshi, a mascot greeting session and an origami workshop. Attendance needs no application and is free, though the greeting session runs by lottery with tickets distributed in advance. The event is organised by Kanagawa Prefecture with the GREEN×EXPO Association as a supporter.
Four days later, on 21 August, the Association and its master license office announced a “triple collaboration” adding Mizuno. It covers five products: shoes called “ME-DELIGHT JQ EXPO” (¥17,600), arm covers (¥3,190), a dry towel (¥2,200), a T-shirt (¥6,490) and a “Bolletch” dumbbell ball (¥9,900). Pre-orders opened at 10:00 on 22 August at the EXPO 2027 official pop-up store at Sakishima Morena in Osaka (for one day only) and at Mizuno’s own and online stores. General sale is planned for around March 2027. The Association calls this its first round.
At the six-months-to-go press conference on 15 September 2026 (reported by the Association on 16 September), Myaku-Myaku was joined by Morizo and Kiccoro of Expo 2005 Aichi and Hanazukin-chan of the 1990 International Garden and Greenery Exposition in Osaka, and the four took part in the photo session with Tunku Tunku. The Association introduced them as the official characters of the international expositions held in Japan. At the same event, Toshiro Ino, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, said in his remarks that Myaku-Myaku and Tunku Tunku are touring the country on a caravan that carries the Expo 2025 experience to other regions and introduces the Yokohama expo.
5. Our take
Lined up, these six announcements start small in 2025, goods and a confection sold only at the Osaka venue, then widen in 2026 to a Kanagawa Prefecture event and a collaboration with a major brand like Mizuno. The closer opening day gets, the bigger these announcements seem to become. Since the Association calls the Mizuno collaboration its first round, we think more announcements will follow before opening. Seeing Hanazukin-chan, Morizo and Kiccoro on the same stage in September also shows the Association placing this expo in the line of Japan’s 1990 garden expo, not only of Expo 2025.
