  • According to the ministry’s page, as of 4 August 2026, 71 countries and regions and 5 international organisations have announced that they will take part in GREEN×EXPO 2027.
  • The list includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and India, along with many African countries such as Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia and Morocco.
  • The five international organisations are the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations University (UNU), UN-Habitat and the World Food Programme (WFP).
  • The ministry says the list will be updated as commitments come in. We check the list for changes and will update this article when the numbers change.

Our take

Two lists, two update dates. The foreign ministry’s page and the Association’s list do not always agree on a given day, so we check the ministry’s page automatically and post when it changes. After this article, the 10 September update took the count to 74.

Why so many African countries? TICAD 9, the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, was held in Yokohama in August 2025, and participating countries gathered there. A horticultural expo doubles as a diplomatic venue. Among the five international organisations, the International Tropical Timber Organization has its headquarters in Yokohama, as described in our ITTO article, so a local institution is on the list.

Announcing participation and signing an official participation contract are different steps, and what a country will show becomes known only after the signing. As of September the Association had announced signings with the United Kingdom, Italy, the Philippines, Luxembourg, India, Thailand and the United States. Most of the rest have not said what they will present.
