- On 22 October 2026 the GREEN×EXPO association announced recruitment of operations staff for the “individual pavilion” part of the international exhibits (International Exhibit Type 1, International Garden Type), where participating countries each show in a cottage-style pavilion. The association has contracted out the operation of this area, and Pasona handles recruitment and hiring.
- Applications run from Friday 9 October to Tuesday 10 November 2026 (planned), through Pasona’s recruitment page.
- Roles and terms (from Pasona’s page; all fixed-term contract employees):
- Director: oversees each country’s operation, liaises with the official participants, writes reports and handles emergencies. 3,500 yen an hour, about 20 people. Everyday English or French, or travel-level Spanish, Portuguese or another language.
- Attendant: patrols the area guiding visitors, helps lost children and unwell visitors, and assists with setting up and light cleaning of pavilions. 2,100 yen an hour, about 60 people. Travel-level English.
- Office staff: paperwork in the management building and coordination with cleaning and security staff. 2,500 yen an hour, about 10 people. Everyday English or French, plus Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Work is at the Expo site (the former Kamiseya communications facility in Yokohama) from 19 March to 26 September 2027. Training is planned for one day in January and several days from mid-February. Travel costs are paid under company rules.
- Pasona says about 50 countries, mainly developing countries, exhibit in this area.
Our take
Our 21 October report could only say Pasona had won “several related contracts”. The association’s notice now shows that it has contracted out the national pavilion area and that Pasona does the hiring, and Pasona’s page lists pay and numbers for each role: about 20 directors, 60 attendants and 10 office staff, roughly 90 in all. Neither source says whether these 90 are part of the 220 announced on 21 October, or what the rest of that work is.
Language is what the terms keep coming back to. Even attendants need travel-level English, while directors and office staff have French listed next to English, and for directors Spanish and Portuguese are named too. Read with Pasona’s line that the area hosts about 50 mainly developing countries, these terms look written for daily work with staff from African and Latin American pavilions.
The work lasts the whole six-month run. Pasona’s FAQ says some Expo jobs can fit around study, but its page does not say whether these three roles are among them.
Tips for visitors
- Applications close on Tuesday 10 November (planned). Choose a role on Pasona’s page and register with Pasona first (create a My Page account).
- Directors go through document screening and two interviews; attendants and office staff through screening, an aptitude test and one interview.
- For a sense of which countries will be in this area, see Africa’s participants (part 1) and the pavilion overview. The 21 October briefing dates are in our report on Pasona’s 220 openings.
Our take
The 21 October release named no contract; now the association says Pasona hires for the national pavilion area it has contracted out. Pasona's page gives pay and headcounts: about 90 people in three roles, working the full run from 19 March to 26 September, with French, Spanish and Portuguese asked for alongside English.
