Our take

One of the shops, the EXPO 2027 Official Pop-up Store, opened on 20 October in ecute Ueno, inside the ticket gates of JR Ueno Station. Entering from outside the station needs an admission ticket or the Touch de Ekinaka IC card entry service.

  • On sale now (tax included): acrylic single-flower vase stand 2,750 yen, ballpoint pen with acrylic charm 1,320 yen, clear slider case 1,540 yen and clear multi-case 1,980 yen. Each comes in three designs.
  • Early November: clear tote bag in three colours, 3,300 yen.
  • Where to buy: Sold first from 20 October at the EXPO 2027 Official Pop-up Store inside YOU+MORE! in ecute Ueno, on the third floor of JR Ueno Station, open 9:00–21:00 (Fridays to 22:00). Felissimo’s website sells them from 28 October. Other official stores and the official online store will stock them in turn.
  • Felissimo planned the goods. The artwork was newly drawn on the theme of nature full of flowers and greenery, and some items use recycled materials. Felissimo also sells a Tunku Tunku floating pen and a handkerchief eco bag (1,980 yen each) and will add clothing and other goods from November.

Our take

The thing to know before going is where the pop-up store is. ecute Ueno is on the third floor inside the ticket gates of JR Ueno Station. According to ecute Ueno, people coming from outside need a ticket whose route includes Ueno Station or an admission ticket, or can enter with an IC card through Touch de Ekinaka. Admission tickets and Touch de Ekinaka are valid for two hours, with another fee for every further two hours. For anyone passing through Ueno on JR, it is a shop to visit while changing trains.

For the Amidaike Daikoku cookies released on 14 October, the shops were five Maruzen and Junkudo bookstores in Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka and Kobe, plus the official online store. Alongside those bookstore counters, there is now a shop inside a station’s ticket gates. The Ueno store also carries other official licensed goods, though Felissimo notes that not every item is stocked.

Lisa and Gaspard is a picture-book series with about 40 titles and more than two million copies sold in Japan. We think the pairing may reach people who come to it from the picture books rather than from the expo.

Tips for visitors

  • To visit the shop without buying an admission ticket, go on a day when you pass through Ueno on JR. It is open 9:00–21:00, to 22:00 on Fridays.
  • Online orders are on Felissimo’s website from 28 October; the clear tote bag in early November is planned for the same page.
  • Other Tunku Tunku goods and where to buy them are in the Tunku Tunku feature.
