31 more Kanagawa towns and cities to offer Expo tickets as hometown tax gifts

Our take

Besides Yokohama, 31 more municipalities in Kanagawa will offer an Expo one-day ticket as a furusato nozei gift, starting one by one from October. Each sets its own donation amount, so the prefecture's release gives none. You cannot receive a gift from the municipality you live in.

  • On 28 September 2026, Kanagawa Prefecture announced that 31 municipalities in the prefecture will offer GREEN×EXPO 2027 admission tickets as gifts for furusato nozei donations. They will start one by one from October 2026.
  • The 31 are the cities of Kawasaki, Sagamihara, Yokosuka, Hiratsuka, Kamakura, Fujisawa, Odawara, Chigasaki, Zushi, Miura, Hadano, Atsugi, Yamato, Isehara, Ebina, Zama, Minamiashigara and Ayase, the towns of Samukawa, Oiso, Ninomiya, Nakai, Oi, Matsuda, Yamakita, Kaisei, Hakone, Manazuru, Yugawara and Aikawa, and the village of Kiyokawa.
  • The gift is a one-day ticket, electronic or printed in colour. Donation amounts and start dates will be posted on each municipality’s website and on furusato nozei portal sites.
  • Yokohama has offered one-day tickets, season passes and summer passes since 1 April 2026. In its April release, the donation for an adult early-bird one-day ticket was 17,000 yen and for an adult season pass 94,000 yen. Under a notice from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Yokohama cannot send gifts to people who live in the city.

Our take

Yokohama plus these 31 makes 32 of Kanagawa’s 33 municipalities. In the Expo’s home prefecture, you will be able to receive an Expo ticket by donating to almost any municipality.

Furusato nozei gifts cannot come from the municipality where the donor lives, and Yokohama’s release says so. A Yokohama resident would donate somewhere other than Yokohama, and a Kawasaki resident somewhere other than Kawasaki. For people outside Kanagawa, we think the main change is being able to pick a place they know as a travel destination, such as Hakone or Kamakura.

In Yokohama’s case, the donation for an adult early-bird one-day ticket is 17,000 yen, while the ticket itself costs 4,900 yen. If all you want is a ticket, buying one is far cheaper. This suits people who are going to make a furusato nozei donation anyway and want to choose an Expo ticket as the gift.

Tips for visitors

  • The 31 municipalities offer one-day tickets only. If you plan to go several times, compare them with Yokohama’s gifts, which include season and summer passes. Ticket types and how to book an entry time are in our guide to buying tickets.
  • Yokohama’s gifts and donation amounts are listed on the city’s own furusato nozei site, furusato-yokohama.jp.
  • Start dates differ across the 31 municipalities. Check the website of the one you want to donate to, or the portal site you use.
