Our take

Satoyama Garden was a venue of the 2017 national greening fair in Yokohama, and buses reach it from Mitsukyo, one of the Expo's shuttle-bus stations. Buy the goods, then walk the autumn flower bed to get a sense of scale for next spring.

  • Goods pairing the mascot Tunku Tunku with Garden Bear, the character Yokohama City uses to promote flowers and greenery, go on sale on Saturday 5 September 2026.
  • They are sold at the EXPO 2027 official pop-up store inside the Autumn Satoyama Garden Festa 2026 (5 to 27 September), among other outlets.
  • Items and prices (tax included): hand towel ¥990, acrylic key ring ¥880, metal key ring ¥1,320, acrylic magnet ¥660, mint tin ¥660, pin badge ¥880, mug ¥1,650. Items with new artwork by Garden Bear’s creator Yuichi Ito will follow.
  • The festa opens one of the city’s largest flower beds, about 10,000 square metres, to the public. It is open from 9:30 to 16:00 at Satoyama Garden, next to Zoorasia in Asahi-ku, Yokohama. Buses run from Nakayama (JR Yokohama Line and subway) and from Tsurugamine and Mitsukyo on the Sotetsu Line.

Our take

Satoyama Garden was one of the venues of the national urban greening fair Yokohama held in 2017, and the big flower bed has opened every spring and autumn since. Ten years before the Expo, the city staged a flower event here; now the Expo mascot’s goods are sold on the same ground. Garden Bear is the character the city uses for flowers and greenery, so the goods also show the city and the organiser side by side.

Seven items, 660 to 1,650 yen. Hand towels and mugs, priced as souvenirs.

Then there is the location. Satoyama Garden is in Asahi-ku; the Expo site straddles Seya-ku and Asahi-ku. Mitsukyo, one of the four shuttle-bus stations, has buses to the garden, so a look at the Expo area and the autumn flower bed fit in one day. During the Expo, a day taking in the venue, the garden and the neighbouring Zoorasia zoo is realistic too.

Tips for visitors

  • The festa runs 5 to 27 September, 9:30 to 16:00. Buses run from Mitsukyo and Tsurugamine on the Sotetsu Line, and from Nakayama on the JR Yokohama Line (one stop from Tokaichiba, another Expo shuttle station).
  • Mitsukyo is a shuttle-bus station for the Expo. See the access guide for how the four stations compare.
  • Zoorasia zoo is next door, so the garden and the zoo make an easy pair.
