- On 17 September 2026, JR East Cross Station (JR-Cross) announced a campaign to support forest-making with registered Suica purchases, running from Monday 21 September (a holiday) to Sunday 18 October.
- If you enter on the campaign site and pay with Suica e-money registered on the JRE POINT website at JR-Cross shops and vending machines, JR-Cross uses 30 yen worth of J-Credits per purchase to offset carbon, supporting forest-making in Tokamachi, Niigata.
- Eligible shops include NewDays, Irorian Kiraku, Becker’s Coffee Shop, Acure vending machines, ecute and GranSta, with some exceptions.
- People who spend 500 yen (tax included) or more in total with a registered Suica on purchases that earn JRE POINT enter a draw. Prizes are GREEN×EXPO 2027 admission tickets for 10 people, 1,000 JRE POINT for 500 people and a Suica penguin thermal bottle for 50 people. No one can win more than one prize.
- Ticket winners must book their entry date and time on the official ticket site. Winners are notified by points or prizes arriving from mid-December 2026. The campaign is open only to residents of Japan.
Our take
Expo tickets are one prize among several, for 10 people. With 1,000 points going to 500 people, the points are much easier to win than the tickets. Rather than spending more to chase a ticket, we think the sensible approach is simply to pay for the coffee or rice balls you already buy at the station with a registered Suica.
The link to the Expo is only the prize, and the forest being supported is in Tokamachi, Niigata. Still, a campaign that offsets purchases with CO₂ absorbed by forests has chosen tickets to a flower and greenery Expo as its prize, which fits. Winners receive them from mid-December and then book an entry time.
Tips for visitors
- Before you start, enter on the campaign site and register the Suica you will use on the JRE POINT website. Purchases made without entering do not count.
- To enter the draw, spend 500 yen or more in total by Sunday 18 October. Using Suica at NewDays or ecute while commuting or changing trains is enough to reach it.
- If you win, see how to book an entry time in our guide to buying tickets.
Our take
Spend 500 yen or more in total with a registered Suica at NewDays, ecute and other station shops by 18 October to enter a draw that includes 10 Expo admission tickets. You must enter on the campaign site first, and winners book their own entry time.
