Our take

What was announced

  • Amidaike Daikoku, a confectioner headquartered in Nishi Ward, Osaka, announced on 14 October 2026 that it is rolling out a new official licensed product from that day at some EXPO 2027 Official Stores.
  • The “EXPO2027 Tunku Tunku Cup Print Cookie” is a cup of 17 individually wrapped cookies printed with Tunku Tunku, with one Tunku Tunku sticker inside.
  • The suggested retail price is 1,000 yen including tax. Shelf life is 180 days.
  • Sales run until 18 March 2027 (Thursday). The Expo opens the next day.
  • Stores at launch: Maruzen Marunouchi (Tokyo), Maruzen Yokohama Minatomirai and Yokohama Luxis Front (Kanagawa), MARUZEN & Junkudo Umeda (Osaka), Junkudo Sannomiya (Hyogo), and the EXPO 2027 Official Online Store. The company says more stores may be added.

Our take

Amidaike Daikoku was founded in 1805 and is known for awa-okoshi and iwa-okoshi, Osaka’s traditional puffed-rice sweets. What it made for the Expo is not okoshi but Western-style cookies with a printed picture. They come individually wrapped, and 17 is enough to share around a family or an office.

The sales period ends on 18 March 2027, the day before the Expo opens, so the cookies are not on sale during the Expo itself. With a 180-day shelf life, a cup bought in October will keep until about opening time. I think of this as something to hand out while waiting for the Expo, not a souvenir from the venue.

All five shops are official stores inside Maruzen and Junkudo bookshops, and two of them are in Yokohama. The release does not say when each store gets stock, so if you are making a trip for these, ask the store first.

Tips for visitors

  • In Yokohama, try Maruzen Yokohama Minatomirai or Yokohama Luxis Front. 1,000 yen per cup, on sale until 18 March 2027.
  • If you are far away, the EXPO 2027 Official Online Store also carries them.
  • Other Tunku Tunku goods and where to buy them are collected on our Tunku Tunku feature page.
  • Store names are trip-jp’s English renderings; the release gives them in Japanese only.
