- On 17 September 2026 Kanagawa Prefecture announced on its GREEN×EXPO 2027 special site that it will run a promotional booth at the third Shibusai festival, held in the city of Yamato.
- The festival runs on Sunday 4 October 2026, 10:00 to 16:00, in the east and west station plazas at Kozashibuya on the Odakyu Enoshima Line.
- There will be 80 stalls in all: food, kitchen cars, handmade goods, festival games, workshops, retail and company promotions.
- Other attractions include a display of working vehicles from the police, fire service, post office and Sagawa Express, appearances by six mascot characters, stage performances, a monkey show and a portable shrine.
- The festival goes ahead in rain and is cancelled only in a storm.
- What the prefecture’s booth will offer is not stated, either by the prefecture or on the festival’s website.
- “Shibusai” and the venue names are trip-jp’s own English renderings of the Japanese.
Our take
Vietnam Festa on 12 and 13 September, the Fujisawa Citizens’ Festival on the 27th, Shibusai on 4 October. Rather than staging events of its own, the prefecture keeps borrowing a stall where people already gather. The gap is down to a week now.
What has changed is the geography. Vietnam Festa was in Yokohama, the Fujisawa festival at the gateway to the Shonan coast. Kozashibuya is in Yamato, the city that borders Seya ward where the Expo site lies. The far end of the prefecture has been covered; now it is the turn of the neighbourhood. Yamato Station is one stop from Seya on the Sotetsu Main Line, which is why it appears in our piece on staying one station out.
That said, Kozashibuya is an Odakyu station, not a Sotetsu one, and it is not among the four stations where the Expo shuttle buses will start. This is not the closest festival to the venue so much as the one with the biggest crowd nearby.
As for the booth itself, nothing is announced. The nearest guide is September’s Vietnam Festa, where the prefecture brought origami workshops and a cheer squad.
Tips for visitors
- Sunday 4 October, 10:00 to 16:00, in the plazas on either side of Kozashibuya Station. It goes ahead in rain, and is cancelled only in a storm.
- What the booth will offer is unannounced. At Vietnam Festa in September the prefecture ran origami workshops with a cheer squad.
- If you are weighing up where to stay, Yamato is covered in hotels one station out.
Our take
After Vietnam Festa and the Fujisawa festival in September, the prefecture's booth moves to Yamato, the city next door to the Expo site. Neither the prefecture nor the festival says what the booth will offer, so treat it as a stop on a day out.
