Our take

Official merchandise stores are spreading to 157 Cainz branches nationwide, where pre-sale Expo tickets are sold too. At the new Hands Shinjuku branch, opening 26 September, spending 3,000 yen or more on official goods that day gets you into a Tunku Tunku photo session.

  • On 18 September 2026 the GREEN×EXPO Association and the 2027 International Horticultural Expo Master License Office (2027MLO) announced official pop-up stores selling licensed merchandise, opening in stages at 157 Cainz home-centre stores nationwide.
  • Cainz stores also sell GREEN×EXPO 2027 pre-sale tickets.
  • Main stores include: Hands Shinjuku (Shibuya, Tokyo; 8th floor, Takashimaya Times Square), opening 26 September 2026, open 10:00 to 21:00; Kamakura Kajiwara (Kanagawa), opened 28 August; Higashi-Osaka (Osaka), opened 18 September; Fukuoka Shingu (Fukuoka), opened 18 September.
  • To mark the Hands Shinjuku opening, a meet-and-greet with official mascot Tunku Tunku runs three times on 26 September, at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00. It is open to anyone who spends 3,000 yen or more on official licensed goods that day, on a first-come basis with numbered tickets.
  • A full store list is on Cainz’s own campaign page.

Our take

A home-centre chain is not where you would expect to find Expo merchandise. But Cainz runs 157 stores nationwide, the kind of shop people already visit for everyday errands. Putting Tunku Tunku goods there reaches people who have no plan to travel to Yokohama, I think. Until now, the official pop-up stores were limited to three spots: Yokohama, Wakayama and Yokkaichi. This jumps from Tohoku to Kyushu in one move.

Cainz stores also sell pre-sale tickets, so the same shop where you buy a keychain can sell you your entry ticket too. That said, paper tickets have so far been sold at only six named Cainz branches, as covered in our guide to buying tickets. This release does not say whether ticket sales now extend to all 157 stores or stay as they were.

Tips for visitors

  • Hands Shinjuku opens 26 September, 10:00 to 21:00. The Tunku Tunku photo session runs three times that day, at 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00; joining requires spending 3,000 yen or more on official goods that day, first come, with numbered tickets.
  • Check Cainz’s own campaign page for the full list of participating stores before visiting one near you.
  • Pre-sale tickets are also sold at Cainz. Ticket types and how to book your entry time are in our guide to buying tickets.
  • For more on the mascot itself, see our Tunku Tunku profile.
