- On 17 September 2026 Sotetsu Building Management, part of the Sotetsu Group, said it would widen its Green Action Program to 12 shopping centres along its railway lines.
- Newly added are Sotetsu Joinus and Konandai Birds, among others. Already running are Joinus Terrace Futamatagawa, Yumegaoka Soratos, Hoshiten qlay, and seven Sotetsu Life centres (Mitsukyo, Sagamino, Minami-Makigahara, Ryokuentoshi, Yayoidai, Izumino and Izumi-chuo).
- The programme started in 2024. Taking part in an event at one of the centres earns a digital stamp; the events include trading in cosmetics or coats, collecting used clothing, and gardening workshops.
- Ten stamps can be exchanged for Sotetsu Points.
- October, the first month of the wider scheme, gives double stamps.
- The scheme runs from Thursday 1 October 2026 to Thursday 30 September 2027.
- The announcement notes that “from March next year the 2027 International Horticultural Expo will be held near Seya and Mitsukyo stations on the Sotetsu Main Line”, and says the company will keep up its environmental work with that in mind.
- English names of the centres are trip-jp’s own renderings except where the company uses Latin letters itself.
Our take
The Expo’s shuttle buses leave from Seya and Mitsukyo, and Mitsukyo has a Sotetsu Life above the station. That centre is one of the twelve now tied together by the same stamp card until 30 September 2027. The end date lands four days after the Expo closes on 26 September 2027, so the line was drawn to hold the whole run, I think.
It is a scheme for people who live along the line, though. Stamps come from joining an event: handing in old cosmetics, dropping off clothes, sitting down to a gardening workshop. There is nothing here about stopping off on the way to the venue and collecting one. Whether Expo visitors can take part at all is not addressed.
Sotetsu is also building SOTETSU PARK on the Expo site and putting an exhibit on biodiesel fuel and food-waste composting inside Yokohama’s own pavilion. Environmental work on show inside the gates, and the same message to shoppers along the line at the same time. A small announcement, but it shows the company treating the Expo as a banner for the whole corridor.
Tips for visitors
- Stamps run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, doubled for anything you join in October.
- The Sotetsu Life at Mitsukyo, one of the shuttle-bus stations, is among the twelve centres.
- For what Sotetsu is building at the venue, see SOTETSU PARK, the children’s area with a 13000 series train on display.
Our take
Twelve centres now, including the Sotetsu Life at Mitsukyo, one of the stations where the Expo shuttle buses start. The scheme runs to 30 September 2027, four days after the Expo closes: the whole run fits inside it. On 6 October Sotetsu said one of the twelve, Sotetsu Life Sagamino, will close in late January 2027.
